Apparently this doesn't work. Now I'm letting you all in on a silly little secret. When no one is here I have pieces of tin foil all over our leather couch. We're not conducting an energy experiment or waiting for martians BUT cat's supposedly don't like tin foil. I don't think Miss Tillie Baldwin here is the culprit of the nasty back foot claw marks in the couch. I think it's the 7lb. trouble maker Florence. I discovered today that Tillie kind of likes it when the the sun is shining in on it. So much for that theory. Geesh.
Big doin's around here this week. Remember last summer I told you how this 89 year old bridge was being closed? Well they closed it off completely in Sept. and they have started to tear it down. The big "float out" was the other day of the center span of the bridge.
I just found this photo from 1922 from the Maine Historical Society of the exact same piece that was taken away the other day. This was the day it was installed.

This is what REALLY happened! Godzilla came through and wiped it out! Now there are folks around here just heartbroken to see the bridge come down and others are finding all kinds of humor in it. I'm with these folks. My gosh, the thing had chunks falling into the river, it's old, it's rotten, yes it's history but sometimes something new is kind of nice. A new safe bridge spanning the powerful Piscataqua river is a good thing.
I've mentioned this food blog before 101 Cookbooks Heidi is so talented and she makes beautiful food. Every month she does a favorites lists. Her list for February is cool and one in particular is from Lists of Note: Things to worry about which was some advice F.Scott Fitzgerald wrote to his daughter. It still qualifies as good advice. Well except the insect part, I worry about some insects. That's another day. Oh and also check out Scandi Food on the list, I just love food blogs; they make me happy.
I think that is about it, tin foil cat, Godzilla knocked down the bridge, F. Scott Fitzgerald advice and foodie stuff from Finland. Finland, that's on my must go visit list. For now it's another Sunday evening, time to gear up for the week and then settle in for the evening. Makes me want to watch an old Disney show at 7pm. Good night.

we laughed so hard when we saw the Godzilla photo, guess it even made the local paper but I didn't see it... poor old bridge, oh well,, it served us well and now it's time to bid it a farewell and move on... keep warm out there, baby it's cold outside...

Utterly hilarious pix of your cat making herself comfortable on top of the tinfoil, so much for that idea!

Yea Tillie, still waiting for Maximus to come home. Ask her to get her instincts going and radar her brother home.
